In 2009, my way of looking at money dramatically changed. My wife, JoAnna, who has always been a frugal woman and the kind of wife any man would pray to marry, could clearly see the shift in my priorities. Despite making more money in 2009, than in any previous year, our finances were still a mess. We had plenty of debt and couldn’t see any real way out in the short term. Although we never asked for advice or help, somehow we managed to pay all the bills. This was probably due to a sizeable dose of luck and a little bill juggling.
Finally at the age of 38, I became sick and tired … of being sick and tired. I was determined to start becoming a Real Man with Money. Fortunately, I stumbled across Dave Ramsey, author of the Total Money MakeOver, on late night radio. After listening for several months, I committed myself to reading his book. His common sense, easy to understand approach really appealed to me. I decided I would no longer listen to friends, family, or strangers who were broke and deeply in debt about what I should be doing with my family’s money.
I knew if this journey was going to be successful I would also have to have the buy-in of my wife. Thankfully, she agreed and has made the path to financial manhood much easier. She truly is a blessing from God and a great accountability partner. Soon I found myself reading more than I had read in years. I began taking responsibility for my family’s financial mess and began taking steps to change our future. With every step I have developed further in my quest to becoming a Real Man with Money.
Along the way I wanted to inspire a new generation of Real Men. A desire born out of a need to document my own journey and plant the seeds of financial manhood in others. Real Man Money quietly launched out of my home office in November 2010. My first article,
What does a Real Man do with Money? had a total initial readership of just one person, my wife. Since then the articles keep coming and our numbers keep growing. I’ve begun to understand the true meaning and purpose of being a Real Man.
RMM’s success is not measured by how much money we make, but rather by the number of Men who find success and financial freedom.
- Our motto – “Where Real Men talk about money.”
- Our mission – “Providing financial help and inspiration in a common sense manner for Real Men everywhere. Giving hope to any Man who strives to be a Real Man with Money.”
Thank you for visiting RMM! Wherever you are on the road to financial manhood —just sick and tired, starting to budget, paying down debt, debt free or investing like a pro— let us know how we can help. That’s what we’re here for.
Sincerely,
